Editing

Figuring out what type of editing your manuscript needs can be intimidating and potentially confusing. Together, we will choose the best type for your manuscript, whether it is a critique, developmental editing, line editing, or copyediting.

During our initial phone call, we will discuss the details of your manuscript, who your audience is, and what your goals are for publishing. From there, we will determine the best course forward for your manuscript, sign a contract, and begin working together.

Investment: Editing cost is based on word count plus complexity of the manuscript. Rates are based on the EFA rate chart.

Formatting and typesetting of your book interior for print and ebook doesn’t have to consume your time and cause headaches. I create custom book designs and pay careful attention to details. Designs can include headers, footers, pull out quotes, sidebars, footnotes, and so much more. I use Adobe InDesign for all interiors.

Each book is unique in its contents, so pricing is based on the individual book. A novel of 85,000 words will not be as expensive to produce as a non-fiction book of the same length with charts, images, and end notes.

Investment: Minimum cost $200 for print

Cover design

Book cover design includes ebook and full wrap covers for print. All print designs are custom, not based on templates, and are created according to genre expectations. Final cover files for print books are placed on the book printer’s template. I use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign for all covers.

I am experienced in successfully requesting, creating, and submitting full wrap covers in all formats (paperback, hardback, and dust jacket) for both IngramSpark and KDP as well as other book printers (Lulu, 48HourBooks, Sheridan Minnesota (formerly Bang Printing), BookMasters, and more).

Investment: $695 for print and ebook with all printer templates

Book Coaching is for clients who are committed to writing a book and desire on-going support from someone who knows and understands the industry and their project. Our partnership will be 100% customized for YOU because every writer is unique and has different needs. Over the course of our partnership, I will be your biggest critic as well as your biggest cheerleader. I believe that you have a story that needs to be told, and I want to help you succeed.

As your Book Coach, some of the things I offer are:

  • Ongoing, unlimited email and text support
  • Problem solving for organization and structure
  • Help and accountability with deadlines and writing goals
  • Answers to questions related to publishing, self-publishing, querying, and writing
  • And more

Investment: $700 per month (weekly payment plan available)

Self-publishing Sessions are one-time sessions designed to answer your questions and help you plan the next steps for your book project. Talk to me about the goals and challenges related to your book and I will help you achieve those goals. This session is helpful if you need guidance on what steps to take next or are struggling to upload your files.

Sessions can include:

  • Title setup for IngramSpark, Amazon KDP, and others
  • A phone call where I answer any questions you have related to book publishing
  • Informal teaching about ISBNs, copyright, categories, keywords, metadata, BISAC codes, and more
  • Planning for a book launch

Investment: $75 per hour
